Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of the Barcode Safe website, free barcode generator, and subscription application.

Last updated: 21 July 2026

1. About these Terms

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) form a legal agreement between you and Click Ahead Ltd, a company incorporated in the Republic of Ireland (“Click Ahead”, “we”, “us” or“our”), concerning your use of Barcode Safe.

Barcode Safe is a product developed and operated by Click Ahead Ltd. By accessing or using the Barcode Safe website, free barcode generator, application, or related services (together, the “Service”), you agree to these Terms.

If you use the Service on behalf of a company, organisation, or other legal entity, you confirm that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms. In that case,“you” includes both you and that entity.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Service.

2. The Service

Barcode Safe provides tools for generating barcode images and for creating, storing, organising, importing, exporting, and managing barcode records and related information. Available features may vary by plan.

We may improve, update, replace, add, or remove features from time to time. We will take reasonable steps to avoid materially reducing paid functionality during an active subscription without notice, except where a change is required for security, legal, regulatory, or operational reasons.

3. Barcode numbers and user responsibility

Barcode Safe generates barcode images from values supplied by users. Barcode Safe does not issue, allocate, register, certify, or verify GS1 identification numbers or any other official barcode numbers.

You are responsible for ensuring that any barcode value, format, check digit, product identifier, metadata, label, or other information you enter is accurate, authorised, and suitable for its intended purpose.

You are also responsible for checking the technical and commercial requirements of any retailer, marketplace, warehouse, carrier, trading partner, standards body, or scanning system with which you intend to use a barcode.

You should test generated barcodes in the intended size, material, print process, and operating environment before production or distribution.

4. Eligibility and accounts

You must be legally capable of entering into a binding contract to create an account or purchase a subscription. The Service is not intended for children.

You must provide accurate account information and keep it up to date. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity carried out through your account, except where caused by our failure to use reasonable security measures.

You must notify us promptly atsupport@barcodesafe.comif you believe your account has been accessed without authorisation.

Organisation owners and administrators are responsible for inviting and removing users, assigning appropriate roles, and ensuring that authorised users comply with these Terms.

5. Free access and trials

We may offer free access, usage-limited features, promotional access, or trial periods. The available features, limits, and duration will be shown in the Service or on the relevant pricing page.

Free or trial access may be changed, limited, or withdrawn at any time. We may prevent repeated trial registrations or other attempts to circumvent usage or plan limits.

Unless clearly stated at sign-up, a trial will not convert into a paid subscription without you selecting a paid plan and providing a valid payment method.

6. Paid subscriptions and billing

Paid plans may include Pro, Business, or other subscription tiers described on our pricing page. Prices, billing intervals, included features, applicable taxes, and any introductory offer will be displayed before you complete a purchase.

Payments are processed by Stripe. By purchasing a subscription, you authorise us and Stripe to charge the payment method you provide for the subscription fees and applicable taxes.

Subscriptions renew automatically for the same billing period unless cancelled before the next renewal date. You can cancel through the billing controls available in your account or through the Stripe billing portal where provided.

We may change subscription prices by giving reasonable advance notice. A price change will normally take effect from your next renewal after the notice period. You may cancel before the revised price takes effect.

You are responsible for keeping your billing details current. If payment fails, we may retry payment, restrict paid features, downgrade the account, or suspend access after giving reasonable notice where practicable.

7. Cancellation, refunds, and consumer rights

You may cancel a paid subscription at any time. Unless otherwise stated during checkout, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period. You will retain access to the paid features until that date.

Subscription fees already paid are generally non-refundable and we do not normally issue credits or partial refunds for unused time, except where required by applicable law or where we expressly agree otherwise.

If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory rights you have under Irish or European Union consumer law. This may include a statutory right to withdraw from an online service contract within 14 days of entering into it.

Where you expressly request that the Service begin during a statutory withdrawal period, you may be required, where permitted by law, to pay an amount proportionate to the Service supplied before you exercise that right.

To exercise a statutory right of withdrawal or request a legally required refund, contactsupport@barcodesafe.comand include the email address associated with your account and sufficient information to identify the purchase.

Cancelling a subscription does not automatically delete your account or stored data. Account deletion is governed by the account controls available in the Service and our Privacy Policy.

8. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent, misleading, or deceptive purposes;
  • generate, store, upload, or distribute content that is illegal, infringing, malicious, or harmful;
  • impersonate another person or business, or misrepresent your authority to use a barcode number or data;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, another account, or another organisation’s data;
  • probe, scan, test, bypass, or interfere with authentication, rate limits, security, availability, or infrastructure;
  • introduce malware, harmful code, or automated traffic that places an unreasonable burden on the Service;
  • scrape, crawl, reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code except where applicable law expressly permits it;
  • resell, sublicense, or provide the Service to third parties except through features or plans expressly intended for that purpose;
  • use the Service in a way that could damage Barcode Safe, Click Ahead Ltd, our users, or third parties; or
  • circumvent plan limits, account restrictions, or payment requirements.

We may investigate suspected misuse and take proportionate steps, including restricting access, removing content, suspending accounts, or reporting unlawful conduct where required or appropriate.

9. Your content and data

As between you and us, you retain ownership of barcode records, metadata, files, and other content that you submit to the Service (“Your Content”).

You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, copy, process, transmit, display, back up, and otherwise use Your Content only as reasonably necessary to provide, secure, maintain, and improve the Service, comply with law, and enforce these Terms.

You confirm that you have all rights and permissions needed to submit and use Your Content through the Service. You are responsible for the legality, accuracy, and integrity of Your Content.

We do not claim ownership of Your Content and will handle personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

10. Our intellectual property

The Service, website, software, user interface, design, documentation, trademarks, branding, and all related intellectual property are owned by or licensed to Click Ahead Ltd.

Subject to these Terms and payment of applicable fees, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable right to access and use the Service for your internal personal or business purposes during the applicable access or subscription period.

No rights are granted except those expressly stated in these Terms.

11. Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party providers, including payment, hosting, analytics, communications, and infrastructure services. Your use of some features may also be subject to a third party’s terms or privacy policy.

We are not responsible for third-party services that we do not control, but this does not affect any responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded.

12. Availability, maintenance, and support

We aim to provide a reliable Service, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

We may suspend access temporarily for maintenance, upgrades, security incidents, capacity management, legal compliance, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Unless a separate written service-level agreement applies, no specific uptime, response-time, recovery-time, or support commitment forms part of these Terms.

13. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access where reasonably necessary because:

  • you materially or repeatedly breach these Terms;
  • fees remain unpaid after reasonable attempts to collect them;
  • your use creates a security, legal, fraud, or operational risk;
  • we are required to do so by law, regulation, court order, or a competent authority; or
  • we discontinue the Service.

Where reasonable and lawful, we will give notice and an opportunity to remedy the issue before suspension or termination.

You may stop using the Service at any time. Termination does not affect rights, obligations, charges, or liabilities that arose before termination.

Sections that by their nature should continue after termination, including ownership, disclaimers, liability, indemnity, and governing law, will remain in effect.

14. Data export and deletion

Where supported by your plan, you may export barcode records using the export features available in the Service. You are responsible for exporting any data you wish to retain before deleting your account or before access ends.

Following account deletion or termination, we may delete or anonymise account data in accordance with our Privacy Policy, legal obligations, backup schedules, fraud prevention requirements, and legitimate record-keeping needs.

We are not required to retain or restore Your Content after the applicable retention period has expired.

15. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an “as is” and“as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties, representations, conditions, and other terms that are not expressly set out in these Terms.

We do not warrant that a generated barcode will be accepted by a retailer, marketplace, logistics provider, standards body, scanning device, printing system, or other third party. We do not warrant that user-supplied barcode values are valid, unique, registered, or suitable for any particular purpose.

You remain responsible for independently verifying all barcode data and testing the resulting barcode before relying on it.

Nothing in these Terms excludes any warranty, condition, guarantee, remedy, or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

16. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, wilful misconduct, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Subject to the paragraph above, Click Ahead Ltd will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, revenue, business, opportunity, goodwill, anticipated savings, or data, arising from or related to the Service.

Subject to the first paragraph of this section, our total aggregate liability arising from or relating to the Service and these Terms will not exceed the greater of:

  • the total subscription fees paid or payable by you to us during the 12 months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim; or €100.

The exclusions and limitations in this section apply only to the maximum extent permitted by law. They do not limit mandatory rights or remedies available to consumers under applicable law.

17. Indemnity for business users

If you use the Service for business purposes, you will indemnify Click Ahead Ltd against third-party claims, losses, liabilities, and reasonable costs arising from:

  • Your Content;
  • your unlawful or unauthorised use of barcode numbers or data;
  • your breach of these Terms; or
  • your infringement of a third party’s rights.

This section does not apply to consumers acting wholly or mainly outside their trade, business, craft, or profession.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Service, law, security requirements, business operations, or third-party services.

We will post the updated Terms on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. Where a change materially affects existing paid users, we will provide reasonable advance notice through the Service or by email where practicable.

If you do not agree to a material change, you may stop using the Service and cancel your subscription before the change takes effect. Changes will not apply retroactively unless required by law.

19. General terms

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.

A failure or delay in enforcing a right under these Terms does not waive that right.

You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms as part of a merger, reorganisation, financing, sale of assets, or transfer of the Service, provided this does not reduce mandatory consumer rights.

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, plan details shown at checkout, and any expressly incorporated terms, form the entire agreement between you and us concerning the Service.

20. Governing law and disputes

These Terms and any non-contractual obligations arising from or connected with them are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ireland.

If you use the Service for business purposes, the courts of Ireland will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service.

If you are a consumer, you may also have the right to bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live, and nothing in these Terms deprives you of any mandatory protection available under the law of that country.

Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us so that we can try to resolve the matter promptly.
